Vote YES on 1

Tennessee: Abortion Destination

abortion destination

On November 4th, 2014 Tennesseans will have the chance to vote YES on Amendment 1 or NO on Amendment 1. In 2000, the TN Supreme Court made a ruling that a woman’s right to have an abortion is tied to her right to privacy. One in four women traveling across borders, leaving their own state to seek abortion in Tennessee, might make Tennessee become more popular than the Grand ‘Ole Opry and the Smoky Mountains…it’s a destination for abortion  Eight surrounding and more conservative states to Tennessee have tightened abortion laws and Tennessee is trying to catch up. Nearly a quarter of the women receiving abortions here live somewhere else. What makes Tennessee that place to flee when seeking an abortion?

“The laws are more lenient — that’s why more people are coming here,” said Elizabeth Orians, 52.

Unlike in most states, women seeking an abortion in Tennessee have no waiting period and need no special counseling.

So what do these other states have that we don’t? I’m confused…

The Tennessee Supreme Court ruled that abortion regulations were per se and what passed in widespread report in other states included: requiring abortion clinics to have licensed staff with local hospital admitting privileges, to be subject to health inspections, and to meet the same standards as other outpatient surgery clinics. This is what our state DOESN’T DO. This is what they WANT to do.

Is that all this vote is about?!

Yes. It’s not taking away abortion. It’s NOT the government’s interference in one’s choice to terminate their pregnancy. But wait…you saw the Vote No on 1 ad on television too, didn’t you? The one with  Dr. Owen Phillips from Memphis, Tennessee. Your heart fluttered in confusion for a moment when you saw this professional doctor explain that she had a patient who found out she was pregnant the same day her cancer came back. Her child lived! But she died.

Dr. Phillips then further states, “No politician has the right to legislate these personal and private decisions. But that is what Amendment 1 would do. Amendment 1 makes no exceptions for the awful things that can happen during pregnancy. Amendment 1 is just government interference. ”

Do you know what the pro-aborts are actually hoping through the lies of these ads? They are hoping you don’t read the fine print on Amendment 1 yourself. Because then you might find out that that is not what Amendment 1 says at all. There is no omitting of facts or trying to hide the truth here, it is a bold face, outrageous lie.

The well-financed opponents to Amendment 1 have no regard for truth. Without any regard to ethics and morals, Amendment 1 opponents have conspired to mislead the voters of Tennessee by falsely claiming that passage of the amendment would empower state legislators to strip women of the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Nothing could be further from the truth.”- Ed Albin

Democratic Party Roy Herron is a pro-life Democrat and a strong Christian who in the past has stood for life and resisted the pro-abortionist tide of his party. Over this issue, he stated,”Amendment 1 would strip a woman of her right to make a terribly difficult, personal decision. Instead of letting a woman decide with her faith, her family and her doctor, Amendment 1 would let politicians restrict and potentially prohibit all abortions with no exceptions for rape or incest or even to save a woman’s life.”

What about prohibiting the lies that the “Vote No on 1” lobby has caused in the media? What deception and fabrication that has flooded the media (once again) from the nervous mouths of those who think they are fighting REAL women’s rights!

“Two landmark U.S. Supreme Court cases that were decided on the same day in 1973, Roe vs. Wade and Doe vs. Bolton, guarantee that any woman in America can get an abortion at any stage of pregnancy. She only needs to find a doctor who will state that her mental or physical health would be impaired by the birth of a child.

In Doe vs. Bolton, the court ruled that a woman’s life does not have to be in jeopardy, thereby nullifying the trimester test in Roe. Under no circumstances can a state constitutional amendment trump the U.S. Supreme Court. There is no danger of Mr. Herron’s and the “No on 1” lobby’s parade of horrors becoming a reality.

Passing Amendment 1 would allow Democrats and Republicans to enact common-sense laws that would protect the health and well-being of women and girls seeking to terminate their pregnancies. If Amendment 1 passes, the state legislature, with bipartisan support, would be able to enact the same protections found in eight neighboring states. These include:

1) informed medical consent based on a woman’s health history; 2) a short, 24-hour waiting period so that a woman could fully process the information received; 3) access to clean, state-inspected facilities to avoid situations found in other states where women have died from unsafe, unsanitary conditions; and 4) hospitalizations for late-term abortions, defined as those in which the unborn child has reached 24 weeks or more.

These are common-sense safeguards that should be supported by both Democrats and Republicans because they will protect women’s health and prevent our state from becoming a tourist destination for desperate women.”

With Tennessee ranking third nationally for out of state abortions and handing over a discount for those traveling 50 miles or more, we are the easiest state in the Southeast for a women to kill her child.

1)Tennessee requires no health inspection of abortion facilities

2)Has no informed consent and no waiting periods for abortion.

3)Amendment 1 does not overturn Roe vs. Wade like the amendment’s opponents would have you believe

Time and time again Planned Parenthood will tell us how they are the one’s fighting for women’s health, safety and “Care. No matter what.”. Well I’m sorry PP, I don’t see how voting NO on Amendment 1 does anything to back up what you say you are committed to doing for women’s health.

1)By voting no on Amendment 1, you are supporting this type of facility:

These are pictures from clinics that went without health inspections.

2a) No informed consent: The patient would not be provided with information from the doctor about health risks associated with abortions. This just does NOT. MAKE. SENSE. Let’s review those here:

Consider the Risks of Abortion

Side effects may occur with induced abortion, whether surgical or by pill. These include abdominal
pain and cramping, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.  Abortion also carries the risk of significant complications such as bleeding, infection, and damage to organs.  Serious complications occur in
less than 1 out of 100 early abortions and in about 1 out of every 50 later abortions. Complications may include:

  • Heavy Bleeding – Some bleeding after abortion is normal. However, if the cervix is torn or
the uterus is punctured, there is a risk of severe bleeding known as hemorrhaging. When this happens, a blood transfusion may be required. Severe bleeding is also a risk with the use of RU486.  One in 100 women who use RU486 require surgery to stop the bleeding.
  • Infection – Infection can develop from the insertion of medical instruments into the uterus,
or from fetal parts that are mistakenly left inside (known as an incomplete abortion).  A
pelvic infection may lead to persistent fever over several days and extended hospitalization.
It can also cause scarring of the pelvic organs.
  • Incomplete Abortion – Some fetal parts may be mistakenly left inside after the abortion. Bleeding and infection may result.
  • Sepsis – A number of RU486 or mifepristone users have died as a result of sepsis (total
    body infection).
  • Anesthesia – Complications from general anesthesia used during abortion surgery may
result in convulsions, heart attack, and in extreme cases, death.  It also increases the risk
of other serious complications by two and a half times.
  • Damage to the Cervix – The cervix may be cut, torn, or damaged by abortion instruments.  This can cause excessive bleeding that requires surgical repair.
  • Scarring of the Uterine Lining – Suction tubing, curettes, and other abortion instruments may cause permanent scarring of the uterine lining.
  • Perforation of the Uterus – The uterus may be punctured or torn by abortion instruments.
The risk of this complication increases with the length of the pregnancy. If this occurs, major surgery may be required, including removal of the uterus (known as a hysterectomy).
  • Damage to Internal Organs – When the uterus is punctured or torn, there is also a risk
that damage will occur to nearby organs such as the bowel and bladder.
  • Death – In extreme cases, other physical complications from abortion including excessive bleeding, infection, organ damage from a perforated uterus, and adverse reactions to anesthesia may lead to death. This complication is rare, but is real.

Consider Other Risks of Abortion

Abortion and Preterm Birth:

Women who undergo one or more induced abortions carry a significantly increased risk of
delivering prematurely in the future. Premature delivery is associated with higher rates of cerebral palsy, as well as other complications of prematurity (brain, respiratory, bowel, and eye problems).

Abortion and Breast Cancer: Medical experts are still researching and debating the linkage between abortion and breast cancer. Here are some important facts:

  • Carrying your first pregnancy to full term gives protection against breast cancer.  Choosing abortion causes loss of that protection.
  • A number of reliable studies have concluded that there may be a link between abortion and
the later development of breast cancer.

A 1994 study in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found: “Among women who had been pregnant at least once, the risk of breast cancer in those who had experienced an induced abortion
was 50% higher than among other women.”

Emotional and Psychological Impact:

There is evidence that abortion is associated with a decrease in both emotional and physical health.  For some women these negative emotions may be very strong, and can appear within days or after many years.  This psychological response is a form of post-traumatic stress disorder.  Some of the symptoms are:

  • Eating disorders
  • Relationship problems
  • Guilt
  • Depression
  • Flashbacks of abortion
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Alcohol and drug abuse

2b)No waiting periods. Studies have shown that waiting periods are proven to help reduce abortion and give pregnant women time for more support.

It also has been shown with waiting periods they are more likely to choose LIFE. Who can argue with that? Even a pro-choice advocate has to agree there is nothing wrong with the mother’s CHOICE for life since she was given that option. Aren’t they always arguing about choice? Well there you have it…she made the choice for life all because she had to sleep on it.

3) Amendment 1 does bring Tennessee back up to a standard equal to all the surrounding states by legally providing a safer environment for women who do choose to abort their babies.

More than 90% of all funding against Amendment One came from Planned Parenthood in Tennessee and across the country. This contribution was over $1.4 million. That is a lot of money to make sure women are NOT in a clean, safe environment with hospital privileges, are NOT fully informed of all health risks associated with their mercy killing, and ARE sure to let you know that if a patient is raped or dying of cancer wouldn’t be able to choose to abort their child. (FALSE. Right now it’s a federal law and abortion can’t be banned in Tennessee)

Bottom line: No on 1 Lobby is upset because…

North Carolina legislature approves abortion restrictions

“Amendment One was carefully crafted with the help of out-of-state anti-abortion professional lobbyists to move toward the goal of making abortion impossible to access in Tennessee. The people supporting the passage of Amendment 1 have clearly said that they believe all abortion should be illegal, no matter what – even when a woman’s health or life is in danger, or if she has been a victim of rape or incest.  Their goals have nothing to do with common sense, they want to eliminate access to abortion in Tennessee.Amendment 1 is dangerous, misleading and just goes too far.

Haha. Watch out Amendment 1 proponents. Yes, danger is lurking through this vote. Danger and deception is lurking all around. Except it’s not quite what you think. Because my vote of YES and our vote of YES doesn’t claim falsification that pro-life advocate’s goals are to end abortion…completely. You are SO RIGHT. You are RIGHT pro-killers.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
